Abstract

Index conversations of contemporary art is an ongoing research project of the Visual Arts Degree of the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Ecuador focused on the formation of an archive of online video interviews of contemporary Ecuadorian artists. The project opts for audiovisual production as an educational tool for artists in training, as well as a way of doing research while generating knowledge focused on the dissemination of current Ecuadorian art and its role within the local and global cultural memory. Research is born from concerns and concerns that are part of our teaching practice. In general, the average student does not have referents who are thinking and generating artistic strategies from the local Ecuadorian context. We approach these references from an investigation of their work and visiting their places or work workshops, where the video interview brings us closer to the scaffolding of the body of work from the voice of the artists themselves.
