La Interdiscipline in education in Contemporary Art at the Higher level,
The case of the Bachelor of Contemporary Art from the Autonomous University of San Luis Potosí, Mexico.
Abstract
Abstract
At present, educational models, especially at the higher level, are adjusting to the new needs of the professional world. This implies that students who study a career not only focus on the theoretical knowledge of their discipline, but also must make use of other disciplines to generate what we will call applied knowledge and in this way transform the new information obtained into learning significant.
Meaningful learning occurs when new information is connected to a pre-existing relevant concept in the cognitive structure. In Artistic teaching and especially in Contemporary Art at the Higher level, students must face endless disciplinary possibilities. An example of this is the Bachelor of Contemporary Art at the Autonomous University of San Luis Potosí, interdiscipline between student projects is something that is encouraged and taught from the first semesters of the degree, with the aim of generating projects that dialogue with other disciplines and then students.
