The educational service of a cultural institution and its relationship with the community
Abstract
This paper aims to investigate the activity of the educational service of the Centro de Artes de Sines (Setúbal, Portugal) in the role it plays in bringing together the local community and the school/academic community. To this end, it focuses on analyzing the activities promoted by the educational service, with an emphasis on artistic experimentation and creation, relating them to an example of cooperation with the community: the illustration of the children's book “O Elefante Apaixonado”. From the work carried out, it can be inferred that the educational service approach fosters inter-institutional, intergenerational and interpersonal dialog, thereby stimulating critical and creative thinking as a result of community participation and involvement.
